Joke and Biagio on Facebook Ads for Filmmakers

This post caught my eye because I’ve been wondering about the utility of Facebook ads as a marketing tool. I’m not sure how to read the conclusions for my own situation, but interesting stuff anyway. Anyone else go this route for marketing?

Moving from Shorts to Features

It’s always been the trickiest part of the grand plan. There’s an old joke amongst World of Warcraft players (I know, but bear with me) trying to figure out how to defeat the latest boss:

Step one, get the raid group together.

Step two.

Step three loot the boss.

File under moments of fleeting imbaness...

I can’t tell you how often I have heard a similar plan from aspiring filmmakers:

Step one make a short film.

Step two.

Step three make a feature.

There’s a useful post over at joke and biagio.com addressing exactly that ‘step two’ problem.

How to Write a Screenplay on the iPad

If, like me, you are waiting for Final Draft to hurry their pretty little asses up and release the iPad version of their screenwriting software before deciding whether to actually buy an iPad, this isn’t for you. If, on the other hand, you already own an iPad and want to format screenplays in Apple’s Pages – hey, it could happen – then check out this homemade app from joke and biagio.com.

Incidentally, the latest news on the appearance of Final Draft Mobile for iOS is… no news. Here is that no news for your un-information:

Final Draft Mobile App Update

In order to integrate with future Final Draft products, we’ve overhauled the development roadmap of our Final Draft Mobile app.  As a result, the app will be released at a later date.

The Final Draft Mobile app for iOS will augment the overall Final Draft user experience, providing our community a seamless creative work flow between the Final Draft desktop client,Final Draft Mobile, and future Final Draft services.

This strategic change in the product’s development will ensure that the Final Draft Mobile app can evolve in a way that will integrate with future Final Draft services and products, such asFinal Draft Connect online services, which will provide storage, sharing, versioning and real-time collaboration.

We as a company understand that Final Draft Mobile is highly anticipated, but we know that it is just as important to carefully consider what gets to market as when.

The company is now accepting applications for the Final Draft Mobile app product usability team.  If you are interested in this customer participation program, please click here.
